The 3M™ cloth band 747D measures 2" diameter by 2" width and features 60 grit ceramic abrasive, designed for versatile grinding, sanding, and shaping of all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. This abrasive band conforms to inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs. It utilizes a blend of aluminum oxide and proprietary 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, providing fast continuous cut, long-life durability, and resistance to high heat and pressure. A grinding aid on the band reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band fits onto rubber wheel attachments such as cushion polishing wheels or rubber slotted expander wheels (sold separately) for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths, it is commonly used in foundry work. The ceramic abrasive grain is engineered for enhanced toughness and hardness, designed to fracture frequently for fast cutting while handling intense heat and stress. This ceramic/aluminum oxide blend outperforms traditional aluminum oxide abrasives in cut rate and durability, making it suitable for moderate stock removal and surface preparation. Typical applications include blending corners, contour finishing, deburring internal diameters, grinding, and polishing, particularly in metal fabrication industries.
