3M™ Cloth Band 747D, measuring 3 inches in diameter by 1 inch wide with 60 grit ceramic, is a versatile abrasive designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It effectively conforms to inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs. The abrasive features a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, providing long-life performance in aggressive applications. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure, and a grinding aid on the band reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. This cloth band fits onto a rubber wheel attachment, such as a cushion polishing wheel or rubber slotted expander wheel, for use with die grinders or rotary drills, with bands available in various widths and lengths to suit different contours and tasks, including foundry work. The ceramic abrasive grain is engineered through a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness, with a blend of aluminum oxide and ceramic grain that offers a harder, longer-lasting abrasive, designed for stock removal and surface preparation. Ceramic abrasives fracture frequently for a fast cut and can handle intense heat and stress, outperforming standard aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability, making this band suitable for blending corners, contour finishing, deburring both external and internal diameters, grinding, and polishing in metal fabrication industries.
