3M™ cloth band 747D, measuring 3/4" diameter by 1" width with 60 grit ceramic abrasive, is designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. The abrasive features a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic grain resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, providing a fast continuous cut, long-life performance, and resistance to high heat and pressure. A grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band fits onto rubber wheel attachments such as cushion polishing wheels or rubber slotted expander wheels (sold separately) for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths, it conforms to inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs, making it suitable for foundry work. The ceramic abrasive grain is engineered for enhanced toughness and hardness, frequently fracturing to maintain a super fast cut and withstand intense heat and stress. This ceramic/aluminum oxide blend outperforms traditional aluminum oxide abrasives in cut rate and durability, making it ideal for moderate stock removal and surface preparation. Typical applications include blending corners, contour finishing, deburring (including internal diameters), grinding, and polishing in metal fabrication industries.
