The 3M™ cloth band 747D, measuring 3/4" diameter by 1-1/2" width with 80 grit ceramic, is a versatile abrasive designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It conforms to inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs. This abrasive features a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, providing fast continuous cut and long-lasting performance in aggressive applications. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure, while a grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band is intended to fit onto rubber wheel attachments such as cushion polishing wheels or rubber slotted expander wheels (sold separately) for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths, it suits different contours and tasks commonly encountered in foundry work. The ceramic abrasive grain is engineered through a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness, and the ceramic/aluminum oxide blend offers a harder, more durable abrasive that outperforms standard aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability. This makes the 3M™ cloth band 747D ideal for moderate stock removal and surface preparation, including applications like blending corners, contour finishing, deburring (including internal diameters), grinding, and polishing in metal fabrication industries.
