The 3M™ cloth band 747D measures 3/8" diameter by 1" width and features a 50 grit ceramic abrasive designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping inner and outer contours on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It is constructed with a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, providing fast continuous cutting, long life, and durable performance in aggressive applications. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure, while the grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. This band fits onto a rubber wheel attachment such as a cushion polishing wheel or rubber slotted expander wheel, for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Bands are offered in various widths and lengths to accommodate different contours, commonly used in foundry work. The proprietary ceramic abrasive grain enhances toughness and hardness, with ceramic blend products engineered for frequent fracturing, super fast cuts, and high heat resistance, making the ceramic/aluminum oxide blend superior to traditional aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability. It is ideal for moderate stock removal and surface preparation in applications including blending corners, contour finishing, deburring (including internal diameters), grinding, polishing, and metal fabrication tasks.
