The 3M™ abrasive cloth band 341D measures 3 inches in diameter by 3 inches wide with a 36 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. It is a spiral band or short tube designed to conform to inner and outer contours for sanding and shaping. The fast-cutting aluminum oxide abrasive grains are resin-bonded to a durable cloth backing, providing a fast continuous cut and long-life performance. This band is versatile for grinding to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs, as well as for shaping and smoothing wood and fiberglass. The 3M™ abrasive cloth band 341D fits onto rubber wheel attachments, such as a cushion polishing wheel or a rubber slotted expander wheel (sold separately), and is used with a die grinder or rotary drill. Constructed with aluminum oxide mineral, it is favored in industrial applications for its cut rate, durability, and lifespan. It can be applied to a wide variety of materials in woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. The abrasive particles are bonded to the cloth with resin, creating a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. Bands are available in various widths and lengths to suit different contours and tasks and are commonly used in foundry work. Typical applications include blending corners, contour finishing, deburring internal diameters, grinding, polishing, and metal fabrication, with primary use in the metal fabrication industry.
