3M™ Cloth Band 747D, measuring 1" diameter by 1" width with 50 grit ceramic abrasive, is a versatile abrasive designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. The band features a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, providing fast continuous cut and long-life performance on aggressive applications. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure, while the grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. It fits onto rubber wheel attachments such as cushion polishing wheels or rubber slotted expander wheels for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths, the band is suitable for accessing inner and outer contours, removing parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs in foundry work. The ceramic abrasive grain is formulated through a proprietary process to enhance toughness and hardness, blending aluminum oxide with ceramic grain for superior cut-rate and durability, making it well-suited for moderate stock removal and surface preparation. Typical applications include blending corners, contour finishing, deburring internal diameters, grinding, and polishing, primarily in metal fabrication industries.
