The 3M™ Cloth Band 747D 1" diameter x 1-1/2" width P120 grit ceramic abrasive is designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping inner and outer contours on all metals, including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It conforms to contours to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs. The abrasive features a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic grain resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, providing fast continuous cut, long-life performance, and resistance to high heat and pressure. A grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band fits onto rubber wheel attachments such as cushion polishing wheels or rubber slotted expander wheels (sold separately) for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths, it is commonly used in foundry work. The ceramic abrasive grain is engineered for enhanced toughness and hardness, while the ceramic/aluminum oxide blend offers superior cut rate and durability compared to aluminum oxide abrasives, making it ideal for moderate stock removal and surface preparation. Typical applications include blending corners, contour finishing, deburring internal diameters, grinding, and polishing in metal fabrication industries.
