3M™ Cloth Band 747D 1" dia. x 3/4" w 60 Grit Ceramic is a versatile abrasive designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping inner and outer contours on all metals, including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It effectively removes parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs by conforming to contours. The band features a resin-bonded blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain on a durable cotton backing, providing fast continuous cuts and long-life performance in aggressive applications. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure, while a grinding aid reduces temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. This band fits onto rubber wheel attachments, such as cushion polishing wheels or rubber slotted expander wheels (sold separately), for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths to suit different tasks, it is commonly used in foundry work. The ceramic abrasive grain is engineered for enhanced toughness and hardness, blending ceramic mineral with aluminum oxide for a harder and longer-lasting abrasive suitable for stock removal. Ceramic abrasives fracture frequently for super-fast cuts and can handle intense heat and stress, surpassing the performance of standard aluminum oxide abrasives. Key applications include blending corners, contour finishing, deburring internal diameters, grinding, polishing, and metal fabrication.
