3M™ Cloth Band 747D 1/2" diameter x 1" width 50 grit ceramic is an abrasive designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It conforms to inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs. The abrasive features a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic grain resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, providing fast continuous cut and long-life performance in aggressive applications. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure, with a grinding aid that reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band fits onto rubber wheel attachments such as cushion polishing wheels or rubber slotted expander wheels (sold separately) for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths, it is commonly used in foundry work. The ceramic abrasive grain enhances toughness and hardness, engineered to fracture frequently for a super fast cut, handling intense heat and stress, and surpassing traditional aluminum oxide abrasives in cut-rate and durability. Typical applications include blending corners, contour finishing, deburring internal diameters, grinding, and polishing in metal fabrication industries.
