The 3M™ cloth band 747D measures 1/2" diameter by 1" width with 60 grit ceramic abrasive, designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. This abrasive band conforms to inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs. It features a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, providing fast continuous cut and long-life performance in aggressive applications. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure, while a grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band fits onto rubber wheel attachments such as cushion polishing wheels or rubber slotted expander wheels, which are used with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths, the band is commonly used in foundry work and metal fabrication industries. Its ceramic abrasive grain is engineered for toughness and hardness, with ceramic and aluminum oxide blend offering a harder, longer-lasting abrasive that excels in stock removal and surface preparation by fracturing frequently for a fast cut and handling intense heat and stress.
