The 3M™ cloth band 747D measures 1-1/2" diameter by 1" width and features a 60 grit ceramic abrasive designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It is resin-bonded with a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain on a durable cotton backing, providing a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure. A grinding aid reduces temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band fits onto a rubber wheel attachment, such as a cushion polishing wheel or rubber slotted expander wheel, for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths, it is suitable for accessing inner and outer contours, removing parting lines, seams, imperfections, burrs, and moderate stock removal. The ceramic grain is engineered for toughness and hardness, frequently fracturing for a fast continuous cut and long-lasting durability, surpassing standard aluminum oxide abrasives. Applications include blending corners, contour finishing, deburring, polishing (including internal diameters), and metal fabrication, and it is commonly used in foundry work.
