3M™ Cloth Band 747D 1/2" diameter x 1-1/2" width with 80 grit ceramic abrasive is designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It is resin-bonded with a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain on a durable cotton backing for fast continuous cut and long-life performance on aggressive applications. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure, while a grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band fits onto rubber wheel attachments such as cushion polishing wheels or rubber slotted expander wheels (sold separately) for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths, it is ideal for accessing inner and outer contours and is commonly used in foundry work. The ceramic abrasive grain is engineered for enhanced toughness and hardness, fracturing frequently for a super fast cut and handling intense heat and stress, making the ceramic/aluminum oxide blend superior to standard aluminum oxide abrasives in cut rate and durability. Applications include blending corners, contour finishing, deburring internal diameters, grinding, polishing, and metal fabrication.
