The 3M™ cloth band 747d 1/2" diameter x 2" width P100 grit ceramic is a versatile abrasive designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It effectively conforms to inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs. The abrasive consists of a resin-bonded blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic grain on a durable cotton backing, providing a strong bond that withstands high heat and pressure, while a grinding aid reduces temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band fits onto rubber wheel attachments such as cushion polishing wheels or rubber slotted expander wheels (sold separately) for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths to suit different contours and tasks, the band is commonly used in foundry work. The proprietary ceramic grain enhances toughness and hardness, while the ceramic/aluminum oxide blend ensures a harder, longer-lasting abrasive that delivers fast cutting and excels in intense heat and stress applications, making it suitable for moderate stock removal and surface preparation.
