3M™ Cloth Band 747D 1-1/2" diameter by 1/2" width, 60 grit ceramic is a versatile abrasive designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It conforms to inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs. The abrasive consists of a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic grain resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, providing fast continuous cut, long life, and durable performance in aggressive applications. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure, and a grinding aid on the band reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band attaches to a rubber wheel attachment, such as a cushion polishing wheel or rubber slotted expander wheel (both sold separately), for use with a die grinder or rotary drill. Available in a range of widths and lengths, these bands are commonly used in foundry work and metal fabrication. The ceramic abrasive grain is a proprietary ceramic mineral that enhances toughness and hardness, with a ceramic/aluminum oxide blend engineered for frequent fracturing, delivering a super fast cut, heat resistance, and superior cut-rate and durability compared to aluminum oxide abrasives. Typical applications include blending corners, contour finishing, deburring (including internal diameters), grinding, and polishing, with suitability across metal fabrication industries.
