The 3M™ Cloth Band 747D, measuring 1-1/2" diameter by 1-1/2" width with 60 grit ceramic, is designed for grinding, sanding, and shaping on all metals including stainless steel and nickel alloys, as well as wood and fiberglass. It effectively conforms to inner and outer contours to remove parting lines, seams, imperfections, and burrs. The abrasive features a blend of aluminum oxide and 3M™ ceramic abrasive grain, resin-bonded to a durable cotton backing, providing fast continuous cut and long-life performance on aggressive applications. The resin bond withstands high heat and pressure, and a grinding aid reduces grinding temperatures to protect heat-sensitive alloys. The band attaches to a rubber wheel accessory such as a cushion polishing wheel or rubber slotted expander wheel (sold separately) for use with die grinders or rotary drills. Available in various widths and lengths to suit different contours and tasks, it is commonly used in foundry work. The ceramic mineral grain, designed with a proprietary process, enhances toughness and hardness while the ceramic/aluminum oxide blend offers a harder, longer-lasting abrasive that surpasses standard aluminum oxide abrasives in cut rate and durability. The product is ideal for moderate stock removal, surface preparation, blending corners, contour finishing, deburring (including internal diameters), grinding, and polishing in metal fabrication industries.
