3M™ Paper Sheet 426U is a general-purpose abrasive sanding sheet measuring 9" x 11" with 150 grit silicon carbide abrasive mounted on an A-weight, light paper backing. It features an anti-loading coating and open coat construction, combining to provide excellent anti-loading characteristics and superior grain retention through its resin bond construction. The silicon carbide abrasive creates a smoother finish than aluminum oxide or garnet on painted metal and wood substrates, making it ideal for finishing applications such as paint preparation, white wood sanding, sealer sanding, and solid surface finishing. The light A-weight backing allows for conformability over contours, crevasses, and corners, and the sheet can be easily cut to fit hand pad blocks, inline sanders, or finishing and power sanders. Applications include general sanding, finishing, blending, surface leveling, and preparation prior to staining or painting, with particular suitability for lacquer sanding, scuffing, sealant removal, varnish stripping, cabinetry, custom woodworking, millwork, furniture, and primary wood and panel processing. Silicon carbide, a synthetic sharp mineral, is commonly used for final finishing in white wood sanding, producing a superior finish despite breaking down faster than aluminum oxide.
