3M™ paper sheet 426U measures 9" x 11" with a 240 grit silicon carbide abrasive, designed as a general purpose abrasive sanding sheet constructed on an A-weight light paper backing featuring an anti-loading coating and open coat construction. The silicon carbide abrasive combined with the lightweight paper backing makes this sheet ideal for finishing applications such as paint preparation, white wood sanding, sealer sanding, and solid surface finishing. The resin bond construction ensures superior grain retention, while the open coat and load-resistant coating provide excellent anti-loading properties. Its light A-weight backing offers conformability over contours, crevasses, and corners, and the sheet can be easily cut to fit hand pad blocks, inline sanders, or other finishing and power sanders. It is suited for general sanding, finishing, blending, surface leveling, and preparation prior to staining or painting, making it versatile for multi-step finishing processes. Silicon carbide, a synthetic sharp mineral used for final finishing in white wood sanding, provides a smoother finish than aluminum oxide or garnet abrasive products on painted metal and wood substrates, though it breaks down faster.
