3M™ paper sheet 426U 9" x 11" 280 grit silicon carbide is a general purpose abrasive sanding sheet constructed on an A-weight, light paper backing, featuring an anti-loading coating and open coat construction. The silicon carbide abrasive combined with the lightweight paper backing makes this sheet ideal for finishing applications such as paint prep, white wood sanding, sealer sanding, and solid surface finishing. The resin bond construction provides superior grain retention, while the open coat construction and load resistant coating offer excellent antiloading characteristics. The light A-weight backing provides conformability over contours, crevasses, and corners. The sheet can be easily cut to fit hand pad blocks, inline sanders, or finishing and power sanders. Other applications include general sanding, finishing, blending, surface leveling, and preparation prior to staining or painting. These sanding sheets contain the ideal abrasive grain type and grades for multi-step finishing processes. Silicon carbide is a synthetic mineral that is very sharp, commonly used for final finishing in white wood sanding; although it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish.
