3M™ paper sheet 426U 9" x 11" 320 grit silicon carbide is a general purpose abrasive sanding sheet constructed on an A-weight, light paper backing, featuring an anti-loading coating and open coat construction. It uses silicon carbide abrasive, which creates a smoother finish than aluminum oxide or garnet on painted metal and wood substrates. The resin bond construction provides superior grain retention, and the combination of open coat construction with the load resistant coating offers excellent antiloading characteristics. The light A-weight backing provides conformability over contours and into crevasses and corners. The sheet can be easily cut to fit hand pad blocks, inline sanders, or finishing and power sanders. Suitable for general sanding, finishing, blending, surface leveling, and preparation prior to staining or painting, these versatile sheets are designed for multi-step finishing processes. Silicon carbide is a sharp synthetic mineral commonly used for final finishing in white wood sanding, producing a superior finish despite breaking down faster than aluminum oxide.
