The 3M Stikit paper refill roll measures 3-1/4 inches wide by 100 inches long and features silicon carbide abrasive with a 240 grit rating. The open coat abrasive is designed for fast cutting, load resistance, and produces a smoother finish compared to aluminum oxide or garnet abrasives. It is suitable for various sanding blocks, minimizing waste and providing bulk stock for high production environments. The Stikit pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing securely holds the paper during use and allows for quick and easy change out when worn. This product is ideal for general sanding, finishing, blending, surface leveling, and preparation prior to staining or painting, as well as clear coat dulling and bare wood sanding. Silicon carbide, a synthetic mineral, is very sharp and commonly used for final finishing in white wood sanding; while it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it yields a superior finish. The abrasive paper is ready to use with the PSA coating on the backside, enabling it to press onto backup or hand pads and remove cleanly without contaminating the surface beneath. Typical applications include finishing, lacquer sanding, scuffing, sealant removal, varnish stripping, cabinetry, custom woodworking, millwork, furniture, and primary wood and panel processing.
