The 3M™ Scotch-Brite™ Clean and Finish Roll measures 2 inches by 10 yards and features silicon carbide VFN grit designed for finishing, blending, polishing, and cleaning on metals, wood, plastics, and hard-to-reach areas. The roll stock can be easily cut to any length, providing consistent surface conditioning throughout the product's life. It incorporates load resistance to keep abrasive particles exposed and maintain a consistent cut rate. This general-purpose pad can be hand-cut for precise control or paired with a hand pad holder or inline/oscillating sander for uniform finishing on larger areas. The Scotch-Brite™ rolls are available with abrasive minerals including silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, or talc. Silicon carbide, a sharp synthetic mineral, is suited for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing and produces a finer finish though it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide. Aluminum oxide offers higher cut-rate and longer life, while talc serves as a mild abrasive for achieving satin finishes or high-gloss finishes when used with polish. The abrasives are embedded in a non-woven fiber matrix that provides a cool-running, load-resistant abrasive system, minimizing clogging and ensuring consistent high performance. Typical applications include blending, cleaning, contour finishing, finishing, and lacquer sanding.
