Safefume™ cyanoacrylate fuming chambers are engineered for the safe development of latent fingerprints using ethyl cyanoacrylate (CNA) vapor in a controlled environment, where moisture and fuming time are critical elements. The kit includes a tamper-resistant compartment that helps maintain the chain of custody, while the unique Air Science® Multiplex™ filtration system, along with professional design and unique construction features, ensures personnel protection during utilization. This ductless filtration system negates the need for an external exhaust connection, and the automatic control system allows for programming of the fuming cycle. The chamber features a versatile system of hanging rods and shelves for the proper positioning of evidence. The automatic fuming chamber is meticulously designed to eliminate dependence on makeshift systems that may lack necessary user-safety measures and microprocessor controls, which are essential for achieving repeatable results. The Safefume system manages all functions from start to finish, enabling investigators to initiate an unattended automatic cycle, define the appropriate fuming intensity and duration, and later retrieve results after completion. Both fuming time and humidity can be user-set to satisfy internal department criteria, laboratory safety protocols, or best practices in evidence management.
