The 3M™ Portable Utility Cloth Roll 314D measures 1 inch by 12 yards and features P80 grit aluminum oxide abrasive. This lightweight cloth sanding roll is designed for hand sanding in various applications, including deburring, blending, repairing metal finishes, rust and contaminant removal, and surface preparation for paints and coatings. The roll allows tearing off the desired length of sanding strip, with most grades backed by a light J-weight cloth providing flexibility to conform to circular edges, angles, and contours, while P50 and P60 grades use a stiffer X-weight backing for more aggressive sanding. The durable cloth resists tearing or shelling even when bent or rolled, yet strips can be torn by hand for smaller pieces without damaging the sanding surface. Aluminum oxide abrasive offers a fast cut rate and long life due to its self-fracturing properties that expose fresh cutting edges, making it suitable for woodworking and metalworking, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, wood, and plastic. Typical applications include blending, cleaning, contour finishing, deburring, and rust removal, serving industries such as metalworking and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO).
