3M™ Wetordry™ paper sheet 431Q measures 9" x 11" and features 150 grit silicon carbide abrasive, which provides extra-fast cutting on a strong C-weight, waterproof paper backing suitable for both wet and dry applications on substrates including paint, primer, gel coat, metal, and wood. The silicon carbide mineral is very hard and fractures easily, exposing sharp edges that enable fast cutting and producing a smooth, professional finish. These sheets can be used dry or with water to rinse away dust and debris, reducing clogging and airborne dust while increasing cut speed, making them ideal for surfaces that generate significant dust such as paint and primer. They are also effective when used dry for finishing metal and gel coats and commonly employed in the marine industry for sanding old finishes, fine feather edging, and surface work. The standard size sheets can be cut to fit specific applications. The proprietary waterproof paper backing supports both wet and dry use, is lighter than cloth, and provides a smooth surface suitable for lighter applications like finishing and paint prep. Silicon carbide abrasives generally have a shorter life than aluminum oxide but deliver a superior finish.
