The 3M™ Wetordry™ paper sheet 431Q measures 9" x 11" with a 240 grit silicon carbide abrasive known for extra-fast cutting on a strong C-weight, waterproof paper backing, suitable for both wet and dry applications across various substrates including paint, primer, gel coat, metal, and wood. Designed for use dry or wet, these sheets allow rinsing during use to prevent clogging from dust and debris, reduce airborne dust, and provide faster cutting. Commonly used in marine applications for sanding old finishes, fine feather edging, and surface work, the standard size sheets can be cut to fit specific needs. Silicon carbide, a very hard mineral with sharp points that fracture to expose fresh cutting edges, delivers a smooth, professional finish suitable for low-pressure tasks such as paint preparation and finishing on wood and metal; although it has a shorter lifespan than aluminum oxide, it yields superior finishes. The proprietary waterproof paper backing is lighter than cloth and preferred for lighter applications like finishing and paint prep, offering smooth texture while supporting wet sanding to enhance dust removal and maintain an effective working environment.
