3M™ Wetordry™ paper sheet 431Q measures 9" x 11" and features 320 grit silicon carbide abrasive on a strong C-weight, waterproof paper backing designed to provide superior finishing for both wet and dry applications on substrates including paint, primer, gel coat, metal, and wood. The sheets can be used dry or with water, allowing rinsing of the work piece and abrasive surface during use to prevent dust and debris clogging and reduce airborne dust, while enabling faster cutting. They are suitable for surfaces that generate significant dust, such as paint and primer, and are also effective dry for finishing metal and gel coats. In marine applications, they are used for sanding old finishes, fine feather edging, and surface preparation. The 9" x 11" sheets can be cut to size as needed. Silicon carbide is a hard mineral with sharp points that fracture to expose fresh cutting edges, offering fast cutting and a smooth professional finish, typically used for low-pressure applications like paint preparation and finishing on wood and metal. Though it has a shorter life than aluminum oxide, it produces a superior finish. The proprietary waterproof paper backing supports wet and dry use, is lighter weight than cloth, and is smooth rather than textured, making it preferable for light applications such as finishing and paint prep.
