The 3M™ Wetordry™ paper sheet 431Q measures 9" x 11" and features 60 grit silicon carbide abrasive on a strong C-weight, waterproof paper backing, designed for both wet and dry applications. This product provides extra-fast cutting suitable for finishing on substrates including paint, primer, gel coat, metal, and wood. The sheets can be used dry or with water to rinse dust and debris away, preventing clogging of the abrasive points, reducing airborne dust, and enabling faster cutting. Ideal for surfaces that generate significant dust such as paint and primer, these sheets can also be used dry for metal and gel coat finishing. In marine applications they are typically used for sanding old finishes, fine feather edging, and surface work. The silicon carbide mineral is very hard with sharp points that fracture easily, constantly exposing new sharp edges for fast cutting and producing a smooth finish. Though it has a shorter life than aluminum oxide, silicon carbide delivers a superior finish and is suited for low-pressure tasks like paint preparation and finishing on wood and metal. The proprietary waterproof paper backing supports both wet and dry sanding, being lighter than cloth backing and smooth rather than textured, which is preferred for lighter applications such as finishing and paint prep. Using water during sanding minimizes dust clogging and creates a better work environment. The standard sheet size can be cut to fit specific applications. The product includes a limited warranty as per 3M’s terms.
