TFFN 18 gauge building wire is a stranded type conductor that comes in green. This wire is suitable for various applications such as fixture wiring, machine tool wiring, or appliance wiring, as specified in the 2008 National Electrical Code. When utilized as type TFFN, the conductor can operate at temperatures not exceeding 90°C. For type MTW, it is appropriate for use in wet locations or when exposed to oil or coolant at temperatures not to exceed 60°C and in dry locations at temperatures up to 90°C, with ampacity limited to that for 75°C conductor temperature per NFPA 79. When rated as AWM, it can operate at temperatures up to 105°C in dry locations. The voltage rating for all applications is 600 volts. Southwire type TFFN or MTW or AWM wire meets or exceeds UL standard 66 and complies with the National Electrical Code while being RoHS compliant. The construction features annealed (soft) copper conductors insulated with a durable, heat and moisture-resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), topped with a nylon (polyamide) jacket. This wire is available in various colors, including black, white, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, purple, gray, and pink, with certain colors being standard and others subject to economic order quantity. Additionally, it is oil and gasoline resistant as defined by Underwriters Laboratories.
