Thhn 1/0 gauge building wire, stranded type, black is designed for use in conduit and cable trays for services, feeders, and branch circuits in commercial or industrial applications according to the 2008 National Electrical Code. This conductor, when used as type THHN, is suitable for dry locations at temperatures not exceeding 90 °C, while as type THWN-2 or TWN75, it is suitable for both wet and dry locations, with maximum temperatures of 90 °C or 75 °C when exposed to oil. As type MTW, it can be used in wet locations or when exposed to oil at temperatures not exceeding 60 °C, or in dry locations at temperatures not exceeding 90 °C (with ampacity limited for 75 °C conductors per NFPA 79), and can reach 105 °C in dry locations when rated AWM and used as appliance wiring material or T90 nylon. The voltage rating for all applications is 600 volts, and this cable can be installed without pulling lubricant. Southwire Simpull THHN®, THWN-2, or MTW (also AWM) meets or exceeds all applicable ASTM specifications, UL Standard 83, UL 1581, UL Standard 1063 (MTW), CSA, CUL, NOM-ANCE 90 °C, and Federal Specification A-A-59544, while maintaining compliance with VW-1 for sizes 14 through 1 AWG CT - UL 1685 for sizes 1/0 AWG and larger, FT1 for sizes through 500 KCMIL, and RoHS compliance. The construction features annealed (soft) copper, unilay compressed strand, insulated with tough heat and moisture resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and overlaid with a SlikQwik® infused membrane nylon (polyamide) or UL recognized equivalent.
