Southwire Type UF-B cable is designed for applications such as feeders to outside post lamps, pumps, and various loads fed from a distribution point within an existing building, conforming to the 2008 National Electrical Code. This cable is suitable for underground use, including direct burial, and can also be used for interior branch circuit wiring in residential or agricultural buildings, provided that conductor temperatures do not exceed 90°C, with ampacity limited to that for 60°C conductors as specified by the National Electrical Code. It may also be used in applications permitted for Non-Metallic Sheathed Cable (NMC) as outlined in Section 334.10(b) of the National Electrical Code, and has a voltage rating of 600 volts. Southwire Type UF-B cable meets or exceeds UL standards 83 and 493, the Federal specification A-A-59544, and the requirements of the National Electrical Code. The construction includes a 3 conductor cable with a ground wire, utilizing annealed (soft) copper conductors that are either solid or compressed stranded. The phase conductors are insulated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), nylon jacketed, and color-coded for identification. The jacket is made from gray PVC that is resistant to sunlight, moisture, and fungus.
