The Southwire ArmorLite® Type MC cable is a 14/3 AWG, THHN black/white/red/green aluminum MC cable, measuring 25 ft in length. It is suitable for a variety of applications including branch, feeder, and service power distribution in commercial, industrial, institutional, and multi-residential buildings, as well as for power, lighting, control, and signal circuits. This cable can be fished or embedded in plaster, utilized in concealed or exposed installations, and is compliant with environmental air-handling spaces per NEC 300.22 (C). It is also appropriate for places of assembly as per NEC 518.4, theaters in accordance with NEC 520.5, installation in cable tray and approved raceways, and under raised floors for information technology equipment conductors and cables according to NEC 645.5(D) and 645.5(D)(2). Additionally, it is rated for use in Class I Div. 2, Class II Div. 2, and Class III Div. 1 hazardous locations. In terms of specifications, the cable meets or exceeds the requirements of UL Standard 83, UL Standard 1569 for Type MC, UL Standard 1685, and Federal Specification A-A59544 (formerly J-C-30B). Both jacketed and non-jacketed versions pass UL testing and the FT4/IEEE 1202 (70,000 BTU/HR) vertical cable tray flame test, as well as compliance with the National Electrical Code. The cable is listed for use in UL 1, 2, and 3 hour through-penetration firestop systems. Constructed with soft-drawn copper, the conductors are Type THHN/THWN rated at 90°C dry and range in size from 14 AWG to 2 AWG, along with a green insulated grounding conductor. The conductors are twisted together and wrapped in a binder tape featuring the print legend, while an aluminum interlocking armor is applied over the assembly.
