Southwire type UF-B cable is designed for applications such as feeding outside post lamps, pumps, and other loads from a distribution point in an existing building, in accordance with the 2008 National Electrical Code. It is suitable for underground use, including direct burial, and can also be employed for interior branch circuit wiring in residential or agricultural buildings, with conductor temperatures not exceeding 90°C (with ampacity limited to that for 60°C conductors), as outlined in the National Electrical Code. The cable's voltage rating is 600 volts. Southwire type UF-B cable meets or exceeds UL standard 83, UL standard 493, federal specification A-A-59544, and the requirements of the National Electrical Code. This cable consists of three conductors plus a ground wire, featuring annealed (soft) copper conductors that can be either solid or compressed stranded. The phase conductors are insulated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), nylon jacketed, and color-coded for identification. The cable is also jacketed with gray PVC that is resistant to sunlight, moisture, and fungus.
