Thhn 10 gauge building wire, solid type, yellow, is designed for various applications including conduit and cable trays for services, feeders, and branch circuits in commercial or industrial settings, as specified in the 2008 National Electrical Code. The Southwire Simpull THHN® or THWN-2 conductors can be used in dry locations with a maximum temperature of 90 °C when used as type THHN, and both wet and dry locations with the same temperature limit or 75 °C when exposed to oil as type THWN-2 or TWN75. The conductor is also suitable for wet locations or oil exposure with a maximum temperature of 60 °C when used as type MTW, or in dry locations at temperatures not exceeding 90 °C, although ampacity is limited to that of a 75 °C conductor per NFPA 79. The conductors can withstand temperatures up to 105 °C in dry locations when rated AWM and used as appliance wiring material or when used as T90 nylon. Suitable for all applications at a voltage of 600 volts, this cable can be installed without pulling lubricant. The specifications include compliance with applicable ASTM standards, UL standard 83, UL 1581, UL standard 1063 (MTW), CSA, CUL, NOM-ANCE 90 °C, Federal specification A-A-59544, and National Electrical Code requirements. The VW-1 rating applies to sizes 14 through 1 AWG, with CT compliance for sizes 1/0 AWG and larger, and FT1 compliance for sizes up to 500 KCMIL. T90 nylon, TWN 75, and RoHS compliance are applicable for sizes up to 500 KCMIL. The construction features annealed (soft) copper conductors in unilay compressed strands, insulated with a robust heat and moisture resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and a SIM (SlikQwik® infused membrane) nylon (polyamide) or UL recognized equal jacket.
