Thhn 10 gauge building wire, solid type, orange, is designed for various electrical applications. Southwire Simpull THHN® or THWN-2 conductors are primarily used in conduit and cable trays for services, feeders, and branch circuits in commercial or industrial settings as specified in the 2008 National Electrical Code. The wire is suitable for dry locations at temperatures not to exceed 90 °C when used as type THHN, and for both wet and dry locations at temperatures not to exceed 90 °C as type THWN-2, or 75 °C when exposed to oil. For type MTW, the conductor can be used in wet locations at temperatures not to exceed 60 °C or in dry locations at 90 °C, while maintaining ampacity limits as per NFPA 79 for a 75 °C conductor. It is rated for a maximum voltage of 600 volts and can be installed without pulling lubricant. The wire meets or exceeds all relevant ASTM specifications, UL standards 83, 1581, and 1063 (MTW), CSA, CUL, NOM-ANCE at 90 °C, along with the Federal specification A-A-59544. Additionally, the wire has various ratings including VW-1 for sizes 14 through 1 AWG, CT for sizes 1/0 AWG and larger, FT1 for sizes through 500 Kcmil, T90 nylon for sizes through 500 Kcmil, and TWN 75 for sizes through 500 Kcmil. The wire is RoHS compliant, sunlight resistant, and marked and listed in all colors for 2 AWG and larger. Its construction consists of annealed (soft) copper, unilay compressed strand, insulated with a durable heat and moisture resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and features a SIM (SlikQwik® infused membrane) nylon (polyamide) or an equal UL recognized jacket.
