Type RWS reduced wall galvanized steel flexible wiring conduit is suitable for a variety of installations, including environmental air-handling spaces per NEC® 300.22(C), power and lighting branch circuit conductors and cables for connections to receptacles, luminaires, equipment, and office partitions. It also serves as a metal raceway for wires and cables according to NEC® (ANSI/NFPA-70) Article 348, accommodating motor feeder, branch, and control circuit conductors. It supports Class 1, Class 2, Class 3 remote-control, signaling, and power-limited circuit conductors, as well as fire alarm system conductors and voice, data, communications, and video cables, including CATV and optical fiber cables in both concealed and exposed installations as outlined in NEC® Article 348. The conduit is applicable for elevator, hoistway, and escalator installations per NEC® 620.21 and can function as a grounding conductor for lengths up to 6 feet (20A max) as per 2005 NEC® 250.118(5). It is also designed for electric signs and outline lighting per NEC® 600.7, 600.31 (1000 volts or less), and 600.32 (>1000 volts) and is suitable for use in hazardous locations, Class 1, Div. 2, for flexible connectors only per 2005 NEC® 501.10(B)(2) & 501.30(B). The conduit meets the requirements for UL 1, 2, & 3 hour through-penetration firestop systems: C-AJ-1462, C-AJ-1463, C-AJ-1464, W-L-1308, and W-L-1309, and is UL listed per UL 1, standard for safety for flexible metal conduit, ANSI/UL-1 for trade sizes 3/8 through 3, and CSA listed per CSA 22.2 No. 56 per Canadian Electrical Code C22.1 Section 12-1000 for 5/16 and 3/8 trade sizes only, while also meeting Federal Specification WW-C-566C. The construction of Galflex® Type RWS consists of galvanized, corrosion-resistant, high-strength steel alloy, with the metal strip helically formed into a continuously interlocked flexible metal conduit capable of withstanding impact and crushing forces.
