Type RWS reduced wall galvanized steel flexible wiring conduit, 1-1/2 is designed for various installations, including environmental air-handling spaces per NEC® 300.22(C), power and lighting branch circuit conductors for receptacles, luminaires, equipment, and office partitions, as well as for wires and cables as detailed in NEC® (ANSI/NFPA-70) Article 348. It accommodates motor feeder and control circuit conductors, Class 1, Class 2, Class 3 remote-control and signaling circuits, fire alarm system conductors, and various communication cables, including CATV and optical fiber. This conduit also serves concealed or exposed installations and is suitable for elevators, hoistways, and escalators as a grounding conductor for lengths up to 6 feet (20A max) in compliance with 2005 NEC® 250.118(5). It is listed for hazardous locations, Class 1, Div. 2, as flexible connectors only as per 2005 NEC® 501.10(B)(2) & 501.30(B) and adheres to UL 1, 2, & 3 hour through-penetration firestop systems: C-AJ-1462, C-AJ-1463, C-AJ-1464, W-L-1308, and W-L-1309. The conduit is UL listed per UL 1 and ANSI/UL-1 for 3/8 through 3, and CSA listed per CSA 22.2 No. 56 for Canadian Electrical Code C22.1 Section 12-1000 for 5/16 and 3/8 trade sizes only, meeting federal specification WW-C-566C. It is designated as NEC type Article 348, Type FMC (Flexible Metal Conduit) and is constructed from a galvanized, corrosion-resistant, high-strength steel alloy, with the metal strip helically formed into a continuously interlocked flexible metal conduit capable of withstanding impact and crushing forces.
