The TFFN 16 gauge building wire is a stranded type wire available in brown, suitable for various applications including fixture wiring, machine tool wiring, and appliance wiring as specified in the 2008 National Electrical Code. As type TFFN, it can be used at temperatures not exceeding 90°C. As type MTW, it is suitable for wet locations or exposure to oil or coolant at temperatures up to 60°C, and in dry locations at temperatures up to 90°C, with ampacity limited to that for a 75°C conductor temperature in accordance with NFPA 79. When rated as AWM and used for appliance wiring, the conductor temperature can reach up to 105°C in dry locations. The voltage rating for all applications is 600 volts. Specifications indicate that this wire meets or exceeds UL standard 66 and complies with the National Electrical Code, while also being RoHS compliant. The construction features annealed (soft) copper conductors insulated with a tough, heat and moisture resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and a nylon (polyamide) jacket. It is available in multiple colors including black, white, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, purple, gray, and pink, with certain colors being standard and others subject to economic order quantity. Additionally, it is oil and gasoline resistant as defined by Underwriters Laboratories.
