Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters capable of handling up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, users should verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate according to the input voltage, ensuring the correct specification for either 1-phase or 3-phase power. The starter should be rated for current higher than the FLA determined. Additionally, the control power used to operate the contactor must be selected, and an overload with a current range that includes the FLA should be chosen. Optional criteria include selecting incoming power, whether it is a "direct-online starter" where line power is also used as control power, or "separate control voltage" where different voltages are used. For activation from an external switch, remote start terminals can be added. This particular model features a 9A 3-phase separate coil voltage with remote start terminals, a start/stop capability, a 100-250V AC/DC coil, and an overload range of 3.1-4.2A, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
