Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and are housed in a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage and confirm whether the power supply is 1-phase or 3-phase. Choose a starter rated for a current (amps) higher than the FLA. The control power for closing the contactor must be specified, and the overload should be selected from a current range that accommodates the motor's FLA. Optional criteria for starter selection include whether the incoming power will also serve as the control power, which is known as a "direct-online starter," or if a separate control voltage is required. For starters activated by an external switch, remote start terminals can be added for compatibility with differing line and control voltages. Key features include a 9A 1-phase direct online start/stop capability with a 100-250V AC/DC coil and a 2.3-3.1A overload relay.
