Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for motors up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, it is important to verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage and confirm the power type as either 1-phase or 3-phase. It is recommended to choose a starter rated for current (amps) exceeding the FLA of the motor. The control power utilized to close the contactor must also be determined, along with the overload selection based on a current range that accommodates the FLA. Additional selections can include the type of incoming power; direct-online starters use line power as control power, while separate control voltage refers to different line and control voltages. For remote activation, starters may include terminals for external switches, and the configuration can support separate control voltage in conjunction with remote start terminals.
