Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters capable of handling up to 60 HP or 80 A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter for your requirements, begin by referring to the motor or equipment nameplate to identify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage to be supplied, confirming whether it is single-phase or three-phase power. The starter should be rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. Next, select the control power used to close the contactor and choose an overload by selecting a current range that encompasses the FLA identified earlier. Further options include deciding on incoming power; if the line power is used as the control power, it is termed a "direct-online starter." If the control voltage differs from the line voltage, it is classified as "separate control voltage," or if activation is needed from an external switch, terminals can be added for control power input, denoted as "remote start terminals." The configuration can also accommodate separate control voltage alongside remote start terminals. Key features of these starters include a 9A three-phase separate control voltage, a reset button, a coil rated for 24-60V AC/DC, and an overload relay with a range of 3.1-4.2A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
