Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. Assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, confirming whether it is single-phase or three-phase power to the motor, and choose a starter rated for a current higher than the FLA. Additionally, select the control power used to close the contactor and choose the overload by selecting a current range that encompasses the FLA of the motor. Optional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power; if the line power will also be used as the control power, it is a "direct-online starter," while a "separate control voltage" is indicated when the control voltage differs from the line voltage. For external switch activation, terminals for control power input are included, known as "remote start terminals." If both different line and control voltages are used with remote start terminals, it is referred to as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features of the starter include a 9A one-phase separate control voltage start/stop with a 24-60V AC/DC coil and a 7.6-10A overload protection, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
