Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60 HP or 80 A. The assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the supplied input voltage, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. A starter must be chosen that is rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. Additionally, choose the control power to close the contactor and select the overload by identifying a current range that encompasses the FLA of the motor. Optional criteria for selection include incoming power types, such as "direct-online starter" if the line power is used as control power, or "separate control voltage" if different. For external activation, remote start terminals are added to accept control power input from an external switch, which assumes the line and control voltages are the same. Notable features include a 12 A 3-phase separate coil voltage with remote start terminals, a start/stop capability, a 250-500 V AC/DC coil, and a 4.2-5.7 A overload.
