Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with capacities up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the supplied input voltage, ensuring to confirm whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. Opt for a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. Next, choose the control power used to close the contactor and select the overload by picking a current range that encompasses the FLA determined earlier. Optional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power: for direct-online starters, the line power also serves as the control power; otherwise, if control and line voltages differ, it is categorized as separate control voltage. For external activation, remote start terminals can be added, allowing for configurations of either the same voltage for line and control or separate voltages along with remote start terminals. Key specifications encompass a 12A rating, compatibility with 3-phase systems, the presence of remote start terminals, a reset button, a 250-500V AC/DC coil, and an overload range of 7.6-10A, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
