Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for motors up to 60 HP or 80 A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter for your application, begin by verifying the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage. Ensure to identify whether the power supply is 1-phase or 3-phase, and select a starter rated for current (amps) that exceeds the FLA of the motor. Next, choose the control power used to close the contactor and select the overload relay by picking a current range that encompasses the FLA identified earlier. Optional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power, which may be categorized as a "direct-online starter" if the line power also serves as the control power, or as "separate control voltage" if different voltages are used. For external activation through an external switch, remote start terminals can be added, allowing for different line and control voltages if required. Notable features of this starter include a rating of 12 A, 3-phase functionality, separate control voltage, a reset button only, a 24-60V AC/DC coil, and an overload capacity of 10-13 A, all within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
