Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters rated up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) on the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage, ensuring to identify whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. The selected starter should be rated for current higher than the FLA of the motor. The control power used to close the contactor must also be determined. The overload should be selected based on a current range that encompasses the FLA identified. Optional criteria for selection include incoming power type: "direct-online starter" when line power is used as control power, or "separate control voltage" when different voltages are involved. Additional options include "remote start terminals" for activation from an external switch, and “separate control voltage + remote start terminals” when utilizing different voltages.
