Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for motors up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) on the motor or equipment nameplate based on the supplied input voltage, ensuring to identify whether it is single-phase or three-phase power. The starter should have a current rating higher than the FLA. Next, choose the control power for closing the contactor, and select the overload relay based on the current range that includes the FLA. Optional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power; if the line power serves as control power, it is classified as a "direct-online starter." If differing voltages are used for line and control power, options like "separate control voltage" or "separate control voltage + remote start terminals" can be specified, with additional terminals available for external switch activation.
