Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with ratings up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, it is essential to refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, considering whether the power supply is single-phase or three-phase. A starter rated for current higher than the FLA should be chosen. The control power used to close the contactor must also be determined, along with the overload, which should be selected from a current range that encompasses the motor's FLA. Additional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power: a direct-online starter is used when line power also serves as control power, while a separate control voltage is required when the control voltage differs from the line voltage. If activation from an external switch is desired, remote start terminals can be added, assuming the line and control voltages are the same; otherwise, for different voltages, a separate control voltage with remote start terminals can be specified. The product features include a 16A three-phase separate control voltage start/stop, a 24-60V AC/DC coil, and a 10-13A overload relay, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
