Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60 HP or 80 A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) of the motor from its nameplate, ensuring to account for whether the power is single-phase or three-phase. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) that exceeds the FLA of the motor. The control power used to close the contactor must also be determined. Select the overload based on a current range that encompasses the FLA identified earlier. Optional criteria for selecting the starter include the type of incoming power; for instance, if the line power is used as control power, this is termed a "direct-on-line starter," while differing line and control voltages necessitate "separate control voltage." For activation through an external switch, "remote start terminals" can be added, which assume the line and control voltages are the same. In the case of differing voltages, the configuration would be "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features include a rating of 16 A for three-phase separate coil voltage, remote start terminals for start/stop functionality, and a coil range of 250-500 V AC/DC with an overload range of 5.7-7.6 A, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
